Is God Really Sovereign

IS GOD REALLY SOVEREIGN?

Tonight (Wednesday, 4/26, 7:00 pm), gather with your Calvary Chapel family in the Holy Grounds Cafe’ or on our website (www.calvaryinv.com

), Facebook, and Youtube (Calvary Inverness) as we continue with our three-year journey through the Bible by concluding the book of Job (38-42).

For thirty-seven chapters, the Book of Job records the devastating tragedy and suffering that a blameless, innocent man named Job had to endure. During the ordeal, he never blamed God or took out his frustrations on those who loved him. Though he didn’t understand what caused his pain, and numerous times he bemoaned his suffering to God, whom he couldn’t see, hear or feel, he refused to give up hope. No one else encouraged him; his friends accused him of sin, his wife told him to curse God and die, and Chaldean marauders killed all ten of his children.

How could Job endure such unimaginable grief, pain, and suffering? How could he calmly and firmly refute the bombardment of accusations of sin and wickedness by his so-called friends? And, finally, how was Job able to function and be in his right mind with all of the physical agonies and mental anguish?

The answer to all those questions lies in Job’s faith in God. As one reads through his life, scattered throughout Job’s lamentations, sorrows, defense of himself against countless accusations, and the multiple swings of emotions during the mental and physical suffering that he went through, he possessed an unwavering and steadfast faith in God.
How Job maintained his faith in God, what he learned about God, and the purpose of why he suffered for a prolonged period is the subject of the book.

Please pray that this three-year journey through the Word of God will be received by open hearts that long to grow in the Grace and Knowledge of Jesus. Moreover, He would do deep and abiding work in and through us for a world in desperate need of a Savior.
In His Strong Love,
Pastor
