Jesus And The Tribulation

JESUS & THE TRIBULATION

Sunday (10/27), gather with your church family as we continue in Matthew’s Gospel (24:9-14).

The seven-year Tribulation—the mere mention of it brings a litany of images to mind: persecution, earthquakes, world war, famines, disease, two hundred million demons released from the abyss, the Antichrist, the False Prophet, and the most infamous of them all, the mark of the beast.

If mentioning it brings such fear, why did Jesus make this topic the subject of His longest sermon (Matthew 24-25)?

There are many answers, but the primary reason is that everything in the Tribulation, both good and evil, points to world history’s most monumental event: Jesus Christ's second coming to earth.
When He returns, He will rule from the city of Jerusalem. The nations of the world will no longer be at war.

There will be no more fear of invasion, out-of-control despots ruining their nations and imprisoning their citizens, all while enriching themselves.
There will be no more need for national defense departments.

There is no more need for governments scrambling to make sure they have enough weaponry to protect themselves from nuclear powers.

The prophets Isaiah and Micah write, “They shall beat their swords into plowshares, And their spears into pruning hooks; Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, Neither shall they learn war anymore” (Isaiah 2:4; Micah 4:3).

It will be a brand new world. One in which the highlight on every person’s calendar will be traveling to Jerusalem to see the Sovereign King, Jesus Christ, and listen to Him as He teaches His people the ways of God.

Therefore, Jesus spoke of the signs that would lead to this day so that His disciples, in His day and everyone who followed until His return, would first prepare their hearts to be part of His kingdom and then share those signs with their families, friends, and neighbors so that they could also place their faith in Jesus Christ and become citizens of the kingdom of Heaven.

There are several opportunities for worship: on-campus (10:00 a.m.), drive-in church (92.1fm), and online (Facebook and YouTube: Calvary Inverness).
Maranatha,
Pastor
