King Hezekiah
Tonight (Wednesday, 1/18, 7:00 pm), gather with your Calvary Chapel family in the main sanctuary or on our website (www.calvaryinv.com
), Facebook, and Youtube (Calvary Inverness) as we continue with our three-year journey through the Bible (2 Chronicles 29-32).
In the previous chapter, King Ahaz, the last descendant of Athaliah, had died, and his son, Hezekiah, ascended to the throne. So finally, after a long line of wicked men who ruled Judah, the people now had a man who would lead the nation in the greatest season of reformation since the days of Solomon.
Though Hezekiah had a wicked Father who influenced Judah to do wickedly, his Mother, Abijah, the daughter of Zechariah, whom God called a faithful witness, raised her son to love God. So, when he became King, he urged the people to return to God. What followed was a total rejection of idolatry and the immorality that accompanies it. And a real commitment to God and His moral law.
Hezekiah set his heart on cleansing the Temple and re-consecrating the Priesthood; a revival that began in the people's hearts led to a celebration of Passover and the reconsecration of the Temple unequaled since the dedication of the Temple by King Solomon.
Today, God is searching for men and women who, like Hezekiah, are willing to stand up and lead their family, friends, and community in returning to Him. It will not be easy, nor will its message be accepted by everyone, but God has promised to be with those that dare to be useful vessels in His hands.
Please pray that this three-year journey through the Word of God will be received by open hearts that long to grow in the Grace and Knowledge of Jesus. And He would do deep and abiding work in and through us for a world in desperate need of a Savior.
In His Strong Love,
Pastor
