Ester: What Are The Odds

ESTHER: WHAT ARE THE ODDS?

Tonight (Wednesday, 3/8, 7:00 pm), gather with your Calvary Chapel family in the Holy Grounds Cafe’ or on our website (www.calvaryinv.com

), Facebook, and Youtube (Calvary Inverness) as we continue with our three-year journey through the Bible (Esther 1-4).

The book of Esther takes place between the books of Ezra and Nehemiah. Whereas the latter two were written to those who returned to Jerusalem after the seventy-year captivity in Babylon, Esther is written to those Jews who, for whatever reason, chose to remain.
Even though no evidence confirms one author, it was probably written by someone close to Mordecai, the uncle of Esther, a young Jewish girl who would be catapulted to Queen of Persia.

The Holy Spirit inspired the author to write this book to encourage the remaining Jews who had not returned to Jerusalem. First, to remind them that God uses the most unlikely of ordinary people to do great exploits for Him. Second, even though one may not see, feel, or hear God during times of stress and trial, He provides His providential care through every season of life. Third, one can be confident that God will be with them every step when they step out in faith. Finally, God would fulfill the promise He had made to Abraham, Issac, and Jacob that the Jewish nation would possess the land of Israel.

Please pray that this three-year journey through the Word of God will be received by open hearts that long to grow in the Grace and Knowledge of Jesus. Moreover, He would do deep and abiding work in and through us for a world in desperate need of a Savior.
In His Strong Love,
Pastor
