The Prophet Jeremiah
THE PROPHET JEREMIAH
Tonight (Wednesday, 6/12, 7:00 pm), gather with your Calvary Chapel family in the Holy Grounds Cafe or on our website (www.calvaryinv.com), Facebook, and YouTube (Calvary Inverness) as we begin the book of Jeremiah (1-2), continuing our three-year journey through the Bible.
God called Jeremiah, born to
a family of Priests, to be His prophet to the nations. He would be an eyewitness to the judgment Israel would experience due to their spiritual apostasy. He would be placed in a strategic place to be able to speak to the kings of Judah as well as numerous Gentile kings.
At first, Jeremiah was reluctant to answer God’s call. It wasn’t from a lack of desire; instead, it was due to his lack of training. Even though Jeremiah was a young man (probably a teenager), he was wise enough to understand that the ministry he was being called into couldn’t be accomplished by an incompetent person such as him.
But like all people that God calls, He promised Jeremiah that long before He was born, he had been chosen, and if he would be obedient to the call, God would equip him with the power of the Holy Spirit.
God continues by telling Jeremiah that his message would not be well received. He would face ridicule and abandonment from family and friends who wouldn’t want to hear the truth of God’s righteous judgment against them.
But Jeremiah didn’t have to be afraid because God promised to be with him every step of the way and would deliver him from all the tactics and strategies of his enemies.
Even though the nation would not be spared from the coming judgment, Jeremiah could be instrumental in saving the lives of those willing to listen to his message, acknowledge their sin, and return to God with their whole hearts.
Please pray that this three-year journey through the Word of God will be received by open hearts that long to grow in the Grace and Knowledge of Jesus.
Moreover, He would do deep and abiding work in and through us for a world in desperate need of a Savior.
In His Strong Love,
Pastor
