Charting Our Course (3)

CHARTING OUR COURSE

Sunday (1/19), gather with your church family as we finish our three-week study in the Apostle Paul’s letter to Titus (3:1-15).

Paul had laid out to Timothy the need to appoint Elders to disciple the new believers. It was not to be heady or an academic exercise. Instead, they were to teach the Word of God, promoting spiritual health and a lifestyle of godliness.

Discipleship was to be a total church-family effort. Titus would equip the elders, who then would equip the men and women to teach their children. By doing so, the church would grow into healthy, stable, mature-body of believers who glorify God.

In the final chapter, Paul urges Titus to continually remind the church of what he has been told. Paul knew that the Christian life was foreign to the thinking and traditions of new believers, and one way to do so was through repetition.

Therefore, Paul admonished Titus just as he did Timothy to make teaching doctrine an integral part of their ministries.

This would include teaching the whole counsel of God, which at that time included the Old Testament, three of the four gospels, and Paul’s earlier letters. By doing so, every challenge a Christian encounters would be covered.

As our church leadership lays hands on those who will fill the offices of assistant pastor, elder, and deacon (Sunday, February 2, 2025), they will come alongside me to continually disciple the Calvary Inverness family with the truths of God’s Word—doing this knowing that it will be the necessary ingredients to make it possible for us to grow up to be a healthy and strong body of believers.

A church family that glorifies God with our worship and service and is also fruitful in every endeavor.

There are several worship opportunities: on-campus (10:00 a.m.), drive-in church (92.1fm), and online (Facebook and YouTube: Calvary Inverness).
Until He Comes,
Pastor
