Sin and Consequences

SIN & CONSEQUENCES

Tonight (Wednesday 03/30, 7:00 pm), gather with your Calvary Chapel family in the Holy Ground Cafe’ or on our website (www.calvaryinv.com), Facebook, and Youtube (Calvary Inverness) as we continue through our three-year journey through the Bible by turning our attention to Judges 1-11 and communion.

The book of Judges is a complete contrast to the preceding book of Joshua. Whereas Joshua records the victorious battles Israel waged against the pagan nations engrained in the promised land, Judges shares the disobedience and defeat of Israel.

As long as Joshua was alive, the nation followed God with their whole heart under his strong leadership. But, as soon as he passed, all that God had done was forgotten.

Due to complacency, laziness, and fear, Israel did not follow God’s command to drive out the pagan nations. God knew that if those nations were allowed to remain, they would be a continual stumbling block to His people.

Judges present the continuous cycle of Israel’s rebellion, enslavement, petition, and that God sent them a deliverer.  And, even though God heard and answered every time His disobedient people cried out, they refused to learn and repent of their sin.

In many ways, the book of Judges is a mirror of our society today because “Everyone did what was right in his own eyes” (Judges 21:25). Thus giving us a prophetic picture of the need of Israel then and the USA Today for a Savior-King.

Please pray that this three-year journey, through the Word of God, will be received by open hearts that long to grow in the Grace and Knowledge of Jesus. And that He would do a deep and practical Work in and through us for a world in desperate need of a Savior.
In His Strong Love,
Pastor
