God's Purifying Love
GOD’S PURIFYING LOVE
Join your Calvary Chapel family today (Sunday, July 13, at 10:00 a.m.) in the main sanctuary or online through our website (www.calvaryinv.com
), Facebook, and YouTube (Calvary Inverness) as we continue our series on the book of 1 John (3:1-3).
John had moved to Ephesus for one purpose: to represent Christ to those who came to Him by faith. He ministered to them so they would grow in God's grace and be shaped into His image.
He also wrote to equip them against the savage wolves who constantly sought opportunities to infiltrate the church family and pull away those who were naive, weak, or sick. John recognized spiritual warfare from all the years of standing with Jesus and then Peter, James, and Paul.
Therefore, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, John understood the height, length, width, and depth of God’s love for His people. He knew if the church could understand that love, it would be enough to protect them from the heinous lies of the heretics.
John wrote that the church would not only understand the power of God’s love for the present, but also what awaited them in future glory. When Christ returns, He will transform their bodies from an earthly habitation to a heavenly one. A newly formed body without defect, fashioned in the same form as Christ’s resurrected body.
A new body was only part of the promise. God’s love also assured His people of a heavenly home, away from a corrupt, cursed, and dying planet. They would live forever with their Savior and all the saints from Adam to the last one to surrender his life to Christ before the end.
The Apostle of love knew that when the church heard and read his message, they would be strengthened in their inner man to live confidently, courageously, and a Christ-like life.
May our church family realize that the same purpose God had for the early church still applies today. May our love for Him, His Word, and each other, along with our desire to serve, continue to grow until His return.
In His Strong Love,
Pastor
