It's Time To Seek The Lord
IT’S TIME TO SEEK THE LORD

Facebook, and YouTube (Calvary Inverness) as we continue our Bible study in the book of Hosea (10:1-12:14).
In the previous three chapters, God had called Hosea to sound the alarm about His upcoming judgment. Israel had broken their part of the covenant that God made with them. At the same time, they also violated their social covenant, which nations create to maintain law and order. This breach of the covenant impacted the marriages of the priests and civic leaders.
So, Hosea, after sounding the alarm, then pleads with Israel to seek the Lord before it's too late. If they turn away from their idolatry and turn back to Him, they will find that He graciously welcomes them. That’s been God's desire all along—He had no wish to punish Israel.
Hosea, in demonstrating the great extent of God’s mercy, lists the various sins that Israel continued to commit. He wanted them to understand that forgiveness was not something they deserved, but something they could receive because of the loving kindness of their Lord, which they had forsaken.
God wouldn’t overlook their sins or ignore them if they kept on. Quite the opposite. He, through Hosea, wanted adulterous Israel to know and understand what would happen because of their choices. Turn from their sin and live, or keep disobeying Him and face death. There was no middle ground, and no time to delay their decision.
Judgment was close at hand. God had already chosen and anointed the Assyrians, a wicked and ruthless people, to be His instrument of judgment. They would come and destroy everything and everyone. No mercy would be given. Their way of life would come to an end. And all that would remain is the memory of what might have been if they had chosen life instead of death.
Today, the church has been called and anointed to proclaim to the world that judgment is imminent. Jesus Christ is returning at a time known only to Heaven. Therefore, it is vital that the church recognizes the era in which we live, stays close to the Lord, and is filled with His Spirit, so that we can effectively share that the only way of escape is through faith in Jesus Christ.
I eagerly look forward to our time together. Please pray for a renewed outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the entire Calvary Chapel family.
In His Strong Love,
Pastor
