Stand Firm In Jesus
STAND FIRM IN JESUS
Sunday (7/9), gather with your church family as we turn our attention to Matthew 10:16-23 in which Jesus, who had just commissioned His twelve disciples, prepares them for the opposition, obstacles, and persecution they would face as He sent them out to be His ambassadors in a hostile world.
The night before, Jesus had spent time with God to hear whom He had chosen to represent Him to the lost people of Israel. When the sun rose the next morning, Jesus looked at all those following Him and chose twelve that He would send to carry the Gospel first in Israel and then to the four corners of the earth.
Each man was different from the other. Each one had gifts from the Lord that enabled them to carry out the specific assignment they had been charged with. And, after their death, they would be judged not according to the results but on their faithfulness to the task when they stood before the Lord.
In light of what the twelve would face, Jesus ensured they would not go alone. Rather, He promised them that the Holy Spirit would be alongside them in the most difficult and trying times of their fledgling ministry. And, when the opportunity arose, the twelve would not need to worry about what to say, for the Holy Spirit would teach them, and the words they spoke would not be their own but God speaking through them.
The promise made to the twelve is not for them alone. Jesus has promised the church that He will be with them no matter where they go or what they will face. And, when all hope seems lost, they should continue to look up, for He would return in power and glory.
I look forward to our time together. Please pray for a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon the entire Calvary Chapel family.
There are several opportunities for worship. On-campus (10:00 am), drive-in church (92.1fm), and online (Facebook, YouTube: Calvary Inverness); (website: calvaryinv.com
