Strength of a Nation

STRENGTH OF A NATION

Tonight (Wednesday 09/21, 7:00 pm), gather with your Calvary Chapel family in the Holy Ground Cafe’ or on our website (www.calvaryinv.com), Facebook, and Youtube (Calvary Inverness) as we continue with our three-year journey through the Bible (2 Kings 10-15).

Elisha was God’s prophet to the nation of Israel. God commissioned him to anoint Kings whom He had called, speak the Word of the Lord to them, and perform twice the miracles of his predecessor Elijah, a man who trusted in the Lord with all of his heart, mind, and strength. Now after many years of service to Israel, he was dying.

Elisha’s impending death proved two essential truths. First, even though Elisha was a righteous man who had lived a life pleasing to God, he still would face death, just like everyone born. It wouldn’t matter how hard he prayed, fasted, or promised; the result would be the same.

Second, Elisha was the nation’s spiritual Father. He had mentored Kings, their families, a school of the prophets, and their families, confronted the enemies of God with a boldness that could only come from Heaven, and consoled and ministered to many who had been forgotten. His death was a grim reminder that the strength of a nation is tied directly to its relationship with God.

Elisha’s death meant there was a void in spiritual leadership. The results would be noticeable. Israel would quickly spiral downward into an immoral abyss. And the only hope for turning things around would be God’s people who would step up and take his place.

Please pray that this three-year journey, through the Word of God, will be received by open hearts that long to grow in the Grace and Knowledge of Jesus. And that He would do a deep and practical Work in and through us for a world in desperate need of a Savior.
In His Strong Love,
Pastor
