DAVID
David & Jonathan
Tonight (Wednesday 06/08, 7:00 pm), gather with your Calvary Chapel family in the Holy Ground Cafe’ or on our website (www.calvaryinv.com), Facebook, and Youtube (Calvary Inverness) as we continue through our three-year journey through the Bible by turning our attention to 1 Samuel 18-24.
David, who had defeated the giant Goliath and brought Israel a great victory, was now on the run for his life. Falsely accused of sedition and conspiracy had no choice but to leave the palace, his family, and friends to try to find a way to survive the night. He rightly felt that he was only “one step from death” (20:3).
During this time, King Saul’s Jonathan showed himself to be a loyal friend. He willingly went against his Father to help David. He told him of his Father’s nefarious plans and confessed that his friend would take his place in line for the throne.
Godly friends are a gift from the Lord. They are sent to help in life’s difficulties. In the New Testament, many scriptures speak of this relationship using “one another.” We are called to befriend one another, forgive one another, pray for one another, exhort one another, encourage one another, comfort one another, and instruct one another because God has placed them in our life.
Please pray that this three-year journey, through the Word of God, will be received by open hearts that long to grow in the Grace and Knowledge of Jesus. And that He would do a deep and practical Work in and through us for a world in desperate need of a Savior.
In His Strong Love,
Pastor
