"God's Righteous Judge"

GOD THE RIGHTEOUS JUDGE

Tonight (Wednesday, 8/16, 7:00 pm), gather with your Calvary Chapel family in the Holy Grounds Cafe’ or on our website (www.calvaryinv.com

), Facebook, and Youtube (Calvary Inverness) as we continue our three-year journey through the Bible in the book of Psalms (78-83).

Psalm seventy-eight is the first of six historical Psalms (105, 106, 114, 135, and 136). The Psalmist, under the anointing of the Holy Spirit, reflects on God’s faithfulness and goodness toward Israel. He writes of God’s blessings and judgment. He hides nothing, which is one reason the Bible can be trusted, for within its pages is a continual diatribe of man’s unfaithfulness and stubbornness and God’s grace and mercy.

Some have said the Bible is “HIS Story.” This means every page is filled with God’s plan to bless those who believe in Him and judgment upon those who reject Him. Another example was a 1948 speech to the British House of Commons; Winston Churchill said, “Those that fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.” Both sayings are true.

Therefore, there is great benefit in hearing, reading, meditating, and memorizing the Word of God. Because as we allow the Holy Spirit to speak to us through His Word, a picture is formed that proves repeatedly that God is the righteous judge who does all things perfectly.

The Apostle Paul understood the importance of knowing the Word of God. That is why he wrote in his letter to the Romans, “For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope” (Ro 15:4). Knowing God and the history of what He has done gives the believer hope, that is, the confidence of knowing that, “He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.” (Phil 1:6).

Please pray that this three-year journey through the Word of God will be received by open hearts that long to grow in the Grace and Knowledge of Jesus. Moreover, He would do deep and abiding work in and through us for a world in desperate need of a Savior.
In His Strong Love,
Pastor
