Hope in a Hostile World

HOPE IN A HOSTILE WORLD
Join your Calvary Chapel family on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. in the main sanctuary or online via our website (www.calvaryinv.com), Facebook, or YouTube (Calvary Inverness). We will gather to exalt Jesus, encourage one another in love, and prepare to share the gospel as we continue our detailed study of 1 Peter (3:13-17).

Life under Rome was harsh, particularly for Jews and Christians. The reason was clear: Satan despised God, His chosen people, and everyone who followed Christ.
Peter faced the daily reality Christians encountered without hesitation. He boldly confronted the enemy and reassured followers of Christ that, despite appearances suggesting Hell was winning, the truth was the opposite.

The Apostle wanted his readers to understand that God is always watching over them, never absent. They are not alone, so there is no need to fear, be troubled, or worry. They can find peace in His caring guidance.

Additionally, the church had a mission to fulfill. They are the salt and light of the world. By their presence, the Holy Spirit holds back evil from prevailing. Through their unwavering faith and hope in Christ, they illuminate the gospel to those in darkness.

Their ability to persevere was rooted in the hope inspired by Peter's promises about what they have in Christ. They did not need to earn this. Providing, protecting, and leading His people was a gift flowing from His infinite love.

For that reason, Peter wrote, "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who, according to His abundant mercy, has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time" (1 Peter 1:3-5).
In His Strong Love,
Pastor
