The Need For Maturity
THE NEED FOR MATURITY
Sunday (03/27), we continue our series in the book of 1 Corinthians (14:20-40). The Apostle Paul wrote to the church in Corinth in response to a letter he had received full of numerous questions and controversies threatening to undo everything accomplished over the last two years of ministry.
Paul began this section speaking of spiritual gifts. He wanted them to know what they are, where they come from, whom they are given, and when to be used. And to understand what their objective should be each time they are manifested.
The gifts of the Spirit have been given to the church so they may exalt the name of Jesus, edify one another in love, and be empowered to reach a lost world.
Therefore, Paul knew he had to correct the many waves of abuse of the gifts in their worship services. And to exhort them to look to Jesus, the author and finisher of their faith, the giver of the gifts, and the Lord of the church so that they would know His mind, will, and direction.
Please pray that the Holy Spirit opens our understanding to know what role each of us must fill. Being a congregation that exalts the name of Jesus, edifies one another, and works together in unity to evangelize a lost world.
I’ve entitled our series, in 1 Corinthians, “Living Upright in a Fallen World.” I pray the Holy Spirit will ignite a fire in our hearts. A desire to burn brightly, for Him, in a world desperate to know the power of the Gospel.
I look forward to our time together. Please pray for a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon the entire Calvary Chapel family.
There are several opportunities for worship. On-campus (10:00 am), drive-in church (92.1fm), and online (Facebook and YouTube: Calvary Inverness)
