What God Desires
WHAT GOD DESIRES
Sunday (10/16), we continue the series in the book of Hosea (6:1-11). God had loved His people with perfect, unending love. He had never let them down, lied to them, or failed to protect them from invading armies. Yet, Israel continually sought the favor of others, seeking for them to do what God had already been doing. Their betrayal broke His heart. Prophets were sent to warn the nation of the devastating consequences of their idolatry and a downward spiral into an immoral abyss. Yet, the prophets were ignored, mocked, persecuted, and murdered.
Despite Israel’s blatant and flagrant sin, Hosea passionately exhorts Israel to return to the One who had done so much for them. He promised that God would immediately forgive their trespasses and cleanse and restore their relationship. No hoops to jump through, no penance to be endured, and no restitution required. God's heart is to restore, not destroy, His wayward people.
Hosea’s message is valid for today. Forgiveness and restoration for the repentant heart and trial and judgment for those who reject God’s love. It’s a timeless message for all people in all places throughout the globe.
I look forward to our time together. Please pray for a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon the entire Calvary Chapel family.
There are several opportunities for worship. On-campus (10:00 am), drive-in church (92.1fm), and online (Facebook and YouTube: Calvary Inverness)
