The Four Beasts

THE FOUR BEASTS

Tonight (Wednesday, 4/9, 7:00 pm), join your Calvary Chapel family at the Holy Grounds Cafe or online through our website (www.calvaryinv.com), Facebook, and YouTube (Calvary Inverness) as we continue our study of the book of Daniel (7:1-28). It is one of the most remarkable sets of prophecies ever recorded.

The Book of Daniel is divided into two parts. While the first six chapters contain prophecies, they also provide a historical account of the Jews being taken captive in Babylon. The book's second part, which begins with chapters seven through twelve, is regarded as prophetic.

In chapter seven, the prophet Daniel dreams of four terrifying beasts, each more horrifying than the last. So frightful was the dream that Daniel struggled to sleep. He may have been reluctant to return to slumber for fear of reliving the disturbing visions, sounds, and sensations he had experienced.

When he falls back asleep, the dream continues. After witnessing the destruction of the fourth beast, he is captivated by what he describes as the Ancient of Days seated on a throne surrounded by countless angelic hosts ministering to Him.

Next, he saw the Son of Man approach the throne and receive the nations as His inheritance, over which He will reign for eternity. Additionally, all of his countrymen who have placed their faith in God will receive the promise made to Abraham regarding their possession of the Promised Land of Israel and will be freed from the terror of the surrounding nations that sought to annihilate them.

Daniel was puzzled by what he saw, so he asked for help in understanding. An angel, probably Gabriel, was sent to give him the skill to comprehend his vision, enabling him to write it down as a warning to those who fight and rebel against God, and as encouragement to the saints who suffer in a culture that rejects God and Christ.

There are many lessons we can glean from this extraordinary dream. Please pray that open hearts embrace this journey through the Word of God, eager to grow in Jesus' grace and knowledge. Furthermore, He will accomplish profound and lasting work in and through us for a world that desperately needs a Savior.
In His Strong Love,
Pastor
