The End of All Things Is Near

The return of Jesus Christ to take His church to His Father's House before the Tribulation has been the hope of Christians since the Apostle Paul revealed the revelation he had received.

The reason is simple. When believers face persecution, trials, and troubles, knowing Jesus can return at any moment inspires them to stand firm in their faith and always be ready to share the reason for their hope with everyone they know.

Therefore, Peter, aware of how blessed it was to hear Jesus teach about His return and how His people should live while they waited, wrote five things that should become part of every Christian's life. Each instruction shifts the focus from suffering to the hope of Jesus' return.

First, the church should live each day believing that Jesus can return at any moment, and use that truth to encourage one another to make the most of the opportunities God gives them to glorify him in their lifestyle, and to warn sinners to turn to Christ before it is too late.

Second, the church should be clear-minded and exhibit self-control in a world that offers millions of distractions that may be enjoyable in the moment but can detract from the mission of taking the gospel of Jesus Christ to all the world before He returns.

Third, the church should love one another, following Christ's example of a sacrificial, selfless, and life-separated life for God, seeking practical ways to serve and being ready to forgive those who insult, abuse, or hurt them.

Fourth, to show hospitality by helping those in need within the church family and community. To do so extravagantly and generously, not grumbling about those who abuse the kindness shown to them, but viewing every act of service as done to the Lord, who blesses those who do so.

Fifth, the church should use the many different spiritual gifts the Lord gives them to serve one another and share the gospel with the world, working together to bring people into an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ. And continue to do so for His glory and until He comes for the church, and then, with the church, to rule and reign on earth.
