Preparing to Give
PREPARING TO GIVE
Sunday (06/12), we continue our series in the book of 1 Corinthians (16:1-12). Paul's writing from Ephesus responded to numerous questions and controversies in the church at Corinth. Each answer given was under the anointing of the Holy Spirit. He wanted the congregation to know they belonged to something unlike anything they had ever experienced.
The church of Jesus Christ is comprised of men and women from different backgrounds, ethnicities, and life experiences brought and bound together by a love for the Savior. And given a desire to grow in the grace and knowledge of Him.
So Paul, after giving the solution to the many problems that had arisen, begins to close out his letter with some final exhortations. He wanted the last words to resonate in the heart of each believer. He wanted the inspired church to keep their minds on the task until Jesus returned.
In the first twelve verses, Paul wrote about financial support for their brothers and sisters in Christ who rescinded in Jerusalem and had been suffering through a famine. Then he wrote about the necessity of always being flexible when planning. Whether it's giving financially or planning one’s future, always submit them to the Lord to know His will.
I’ve entitled our series in 1 Corinthians “Living Upright in a Fallen World.” I pray the Holy Spirit will ignite a fire in our hearts. A desire to burn brightly, for Him, in a world desperate to know the power of the Gospel.
I look forward to our time together. Please pray for a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon the entire Calvary Chapel family.
There are several opportunities for worship. On-campus (10:00 am), drive-in church (92.1fm), and online (Facebook and YouTube: Calvary Inverness)
