Israel's Hallelujah Chorus
ISRAEL’S HALLELUJAH CHORUS
Tonight (Wednesday, 10/25, 7:00 pm), gather with your Calvary Chapel family in the Holy Grounds Cafe’ or on our website (www.calvaryinv.com), Facebook, and YouTube (Calvary Inverness) as we continue our three-year journey through the Bible in the book of Psalms (113-118).
This set of Psalms was given to Israel to sing when they gathered in Jerusalem for the feasts of Passover, Pentecost, Tabernacles, and various other celebrations. The most significant time these were sung was at the last Passover with Jesus and His twelve disciples on the night He was betrayed (Matt 26:30).
Each Psalm is a song celebration referring to the multiple times God delivered His people from Egyptian bondage (Exodus 12-15), the invasion of the Moabites with a great multitude (2 Chronicles 20), Hezekiah’s fear of death (2 Kings 20), and a celebration of the wall of Jerusalem rebuilt after the Jews return to Israel amid the threats from surrounding nations (Nehemiah
.
The Holy Spirit inspired men to write them because He knows how fragile the hearts of men are and knew the remedy to fear, depression, despair, and distress was to sing of God’s faithfulness.
Therefore, These songs were to be sung no matter the circumstances. They were and continue to be declarations of faith and trust in the power of God and a source of encouragement for His people in every generation.
Please pray that this three-year journey through the Word of God will be received by open hearts that long to grow in the Grace and Knowledge of Jesus. Moreover, He would do deep and abiding work in and through us for a world in desperate need of a Savior.
In His Strong Love,
Pastor
